Henner Schroder

Henner Schroder illustrates his expertise with two challenging glass techniques, sandcasting and manipulated/hot rolled. Intrigued by images left by ancient cultures, Henner combines these in a challenging process of "layering" visual information.

Henner Schröder was born in Germany in 1955, and raised in West Berlin. In 1977 he moved to the US to pursue art studies. After studying at Massachusetts College of Art and receiving a fellowship at the Creative Glass Center of America he has taught at the Pilchuck Glass School as well as Pratt Fine Art Center, Seattle.

Henner Schroder creates unique cast glass sculptures. After carefully making a drawing with crushed glass, he and the team of five ladle molten glass onto the design and roll the sheet into a cylinder at 2000 degrees Fahrenheit.
