Cheryl D. McClure
Cheryl D. McClure is a predominantly self-taught artist, showing her work in local, regional and international exhibits since 1989. She was born in southeastern Oklahoma, but made Texas her home where she raised her family and for the past 11 years has worked out of her studio on a ranch in New London. For over 30 years her primary interest has been abstraction through painting. These interests refer to the natural, and sometimes the man made world. Her process has an emphasis on painting using color, shape, texture, and line.
Today her work is included in numerous public and private collections, and has been exhibited and collected throughout the United States, Italy, and France. She has also worked with a number of corporate art galleries on commissions for commercial, residential homes and healthcare facilities. She was a finalist for the prestigious Hunting Art Prize award and her work is also recognized by many publications and books about art, color, and technique. As of early 2007, her work graced the covers of two new poetry books with her most recent feature being a collaboration of poetry and paintings in, Smaller Than Death, by Theodore Worozbyt. Cheryl D. McClure has been affiliated with Gallery Mack since 2006.
